
Philippe Knoche is a graduate of the École Polytechnique (class of 1989), having majored in materials science and is a qualified French state industrial engineer ("ingénieur du Corps des Mines").
He began his career in 1995 working for the European Commission as a case handler for the Anti-dumping Department. In 1998, he joined the Consortium de Réalisation, as assistant to the Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
He joined the AREVA group in 2000 as Senior Vice President in charge of Strategy, going on to hold positions in various operational departments, notably on the Olkiluoto 3 project. In 2010, Philippe Knoche was appointed Senior Executive Vice President, Reactors and Services Business Group, and became a member of AREVA 's Executive Committee before being appointed as Chief Operating Officer of the Group. At the start of 2015, the AREVA Board of Directors appointed him as Chief Executive Officer. He then led the restructuring of the AREVA group, becoming Chief Executive Officer of successor company Orano in January 2018.
Philippe Knoche has been Chairman of the
World Nuclear Association since April 2020.
